Over 400,000 Passengers Fly into Kish during Summer Festival

 

Kish Island, September 6, 2016-The number of passengers flying to Kish Island to spend their summer vacations has risen by 13 percent in recent months.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, until the end of the 60th day of Kish Summer Festival (which started on July 5,) 403133 people traveled to Kish by air. The figure indicates a 13% year-on-year increase.

From July 5 to September 4, the total number of domestic flights from and into Kish airport reached 3195 flights while 226 international flights were made in the same period.

Also, the number of flights into Kish airport witnessed a 6% year-on-year increase, reaching 4662 flights during the first five months of the Persian calendar years (Starting on March 21). 558192 passengers flew into Kish Island during the same period.

The latest increases in the number of flights into Kish come against the backdrop of efforts by Kish Free Zone Organization to develop the aviation infrastructure in the Persian Gulf Island.

Kish Free Zone Organization has already carried out a large number of aviation projects as part of efforts to boost tourism services in the Persian Gulf Island.

Developing the airport infrastructure, facilities, and services and achieving international aviation standards have topped the agenda of KFZO over the past three years.

Iran's first standard runway for wide-body aircraft has been set up at Kish international airport.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the runway has been specifically made for the landing of A380, a wide-body aircraft manufactured by Airbus Company.

Widening the southern runway of Kish International Airport, repairing the main runway of the airport are among the major projects carried out at Kish International Airport during the past 35 years.

Also, Iran's second largest passenger terminal is under construction at Kish International Airport. Once completed, the terminal will have the capacity of receiving 4.5 passengers annually. The Terminal which is scheduled to be constructed by 2018, is under construction in an 1861 square meter area.

Construction of a new control tower at Kish International Airport is one of the other major projects carried out by KFZO in recent years.

Kish International Airport is seen as Iran's busiest airport after Tehran and Mashhad airports.

Thanks to its modern management system, Kish International Airport has been ranked as the most satisfying airport in Iran.
