Development of Tourism with Russia: Kabiri's Talks with the Dagestan Delegation

During a one-day visit to Dagestan, the CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization pursued discussions on tourism between Kish and Russia in a meeting with the Dagestan government delegation.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the Kish Free Zone Organization, Mohammad Kabiri referred to a meeting held last February with the Russian consul and the country's interest in facilitating travel for Russian tourists to Kish Island. He stated, "This mutual interest in attracting both Muslim and non-Muslim tourists from Russia to Kish Island was the focus of our trip to Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan in Russia."

The CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization further noted that 95% of Dagestan's population is Muslim, including 150,000 Shia Muslims, and highlighted that Dagestan is one of Russia's most important commercial ports. He emphasized that this relationship could be leveraged to exchange religious and cultural tourism.

He added, "Our plan for cooperation and interaction with Russia and Makhachkala includes establishing direct or connecting flights to Kish Island by the year 1404 (March 21, 2025)."

In conclusion, Kabiri mentioned that during his visit, a fruitful meeting took place with the Dagestan government delegation, where significant agreements were made. It was decided that by the end of spring, both sides would present their proposals for establishing tourism interactions.
