Kish Tourists Up 17 Percent in Norooz
Kish Island, April 10, 2016 - The number of tourists visiting the Persian Gulf island of Kish during Norooz vacation has risen by 17%.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, over 227,000 tourists traveled to Kish from March 15 to April 2 which marked vacation time in the New Persian Year.
The year-on-year increase in the number of tourists visiting Kish island comes against the backdrop of KFZO officials’ efforts to boost tourism in the Persian Gulf island.
According to KFZO Public Relations and International Affairs Department, the tourists visited diverse natural, recreational and historical attractions in Kish.
Kish is a beautiful resort island located in the Persian Gulf in southern Iran. Due to its free trade zone status, it is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centers, tourist attractions, and resort hotels.
Kish Island was ranked among the world's 10 most beautiful islands by The New York Times in 2010.
It is seen as a haven for tourists as foreign nationals wishing to enter Kish Free Zone from legal ports are not required to obtain visas prior to travel. Valid travel permits are stamped for 14 days by Kish airport and Kish port police officials.
