Kish Island to Transform into a Smart City

Kish Island, September 7, 2020- Two fiber optic projects of Kish Island will be inaugurated with the aim of creating quality infrastructure for sustainable communication in businesses and improving the quality of communication technology for Kish residents and transform Kish Island into a smart city.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, Amir Sodagaran, Kish Free Zone Organization’s IT Director, announced the completion of two fiber optic projects on Kish Island, which started two years ago intending to improve the quality of communication infrastructure in businesses, enhancing the communication quality of Kish residents, realizing the idea of a smart city and achieving G5 technology.

He stated that in the first phase of the project operation from Kish Island to the Charak- Gorzeh port cities, the country's infrastructure communication company has implemented a marine fiber optic project with a length of approximately 23 km in cooperation with Kish Free Zone Organization

Kish Free Zone Organization's IT Director also announced that the second phase of the project is to develop a fiber-optic network within the island and to improve the quantity and quality of fixed and portable communication services with 75 km long drilling and installation of 140 ODCs by Fanap Telecom.
