Kish Annual Fish Haul Reaches 2.15 Tons
Kish Island, October 16, 2016- The director of Kish fishery department says the annual fishing haul in the Persian Gulf island has reached 2.15 tons.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization Etemadinia said 96% of the fish is hauled with “longline technique.”
He said the modern fishing method has already replaced old and traditional ones, slashing fishing costs by 80% while boosting the quality of the product by 60%.
Etemadinia pointed to various species of fish hauled in Kish coasts including Epinephelus coioides, Jack as well as Scomberomorus.
He said Kish fishing fleet includes 103 vessels and 600 fishermen.
