Kish Airport Flights Up 14%

Kish Island, May 26, 2016- The number of flights carried out at Kish International Airport has witnessed a 14% rise in the second month of the Persian calendar year (April-May).

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, 1938 domestic flights were carried out at Kish airport, showing a 14% year-on-year increase.

Also the number of passengers flying from and into the airport reached 221658 people, 10% up compared to the same period last year.

According to a report by KFZO Public Relations and International Affairs Department, 4522 flights were carried out at Kish airport during the first two months of the Persian calendar year( starting on March 21), showing a 15% year-on-year rise.

In the same period, 167541 passengers from different parts of mainland Iran were transported to the Persian Gulf island of Kish through Kish airport, showing an 11% increase.

The number of tourists visiting Kish is expected to soar in coming weeks with the advent of EidFitr (at the end of fasting month of Ramadan) and also the coming of Kish summer festival.

It should be noted that Kish international airport is seen as the third busiest airport in Iran, offering aviation services to over 1.8 million people every year.
