KFZO, Chinese Company Ink Agreement on Expanding Kish Airport
Kish Island, January 10, 2016 - Kish Free Zone Organization has signed an agreement with a Chinese company to expand the Persian Gulf island’s international airport. According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, under the deal, the Chinese company will finance the final phase of the new passenger terminal which is under construction at the international airport.
When completed, the new terminal will have the capacity for transferring 5.4 million passengers annually. It has already had a 45% physical development.
The Chinese company will complete several projects including fuel stations, warehouses, green space as well as the airport runway within less than two years. (By the end of the first half of the Persian calendar year 96 which starts on March 21, 2017).
The construction of the new terminal is underway in a nearly 4,200 square meter area at Kish International airport and includes customs area, corridors, passport control gates, restaurants, as well as other facilities.
