Iranian Parliament Voices Support for Free Zones

Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi announced that the parliament is ready to take any necessary steps to help complete free zone laws.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the senior Iranian lawmaker made the comments during his one-day visit to Kish Island.

Boroujerdi voiced the parliament’s support for the development of free zones and said Majlis is ready to help the government in ratifying complementary laws related to free zones.

He said the main problem facing free zones is not lack of regulations but the proper enforcement of the laws.

"Many of the problems related to the free zones can be tackled if the laws which have already been ratified are implemented," he said.

"Given the great significance of the Persian Gulf and its islands, should there be any need for ratifying new laws, the parliament is ready to take necessary action in this regard," Boroujerdi concluded.
