Iran launches First Domestically-Produced Tourist Vessel

Kish Island, April 6, 2019- The first Iranian domestically-made advanced tourist and passenger ship with the capacity of 220 passengers has joined the naval fleet.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the unveiling ceremony was held with the attendance of Sorena Sattari, Iran’s Vice-President for Science and Technology, and Gholam Hossein Mozaffari, the CEO of Kish Free Zone Organization.

Expressing that the strengthening of tourism infrastructure, especially in the field of maritime tourism, is one of the management plans of the country's free zone, Dr. Mozaffari said: "In order to improve the quality of tourism services, realize the desired goals in the field of tourism, utilize the unmatched capacities of the sea and God-given blessings In Kish Island, the right tools and solutions are needed."

KFZO head also emphasized the need to attract private sector investment in tourism and portrayed the use of "Top Tours Passenger Ship" as an important step in boosting maritime tourism.

Sorna Sattari, Iran’s Vice-President for Science and Technology, said that the development of innovative facilities in the field of tourism and other sectors should be done by the private sector, adding that technology develops when the private sector enters into the subject. This is the foundation of the knowledge-based economy.

The ship has been made by engineers and experts of Arvandan Company and is the biggest and the most advanced Iranian passenger ship.

The catamaran ship is the largest and most advanced Iranian passenger ship with a capacity of 220 passengers, 80 tonnes of goods and 10 cars.

According to the managing director of Arvandan Shipbuilding Corporation of Khorramshahr, the ship was to be made and delivered by foreign companies, but due to their delay, Iranian experts manufactured it.

The Top Tours Catamaran Ship is scheduled to give service to passengers in Kish, Hendurabi and Charak Islands.
