Iran's Squash Player Earns Bronze in Persian Gulf Championship
Kish Island, April 23, 2017- Iranian squash player, Sajad Zareian, has demonstrated rather convincing performances at the Persian Gulf Championship and managed to strike a bronze medal in the international tournament.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, Zareian could not defeat his Pakistani opponent, Tayyab Aslam, on Friday, at a semifinal meet in the Persian Gulf island of Kish, and lost to him 1-3 (6-11, 11-9, 6-11 and 0-8) to take away the bronze medal.
Since no third-place playoff match was held in the tourney, the Iranian squash player and an athlete from Hong Kong jointly finished in third place.
Aslam, however, powered past a rival from Hong Kong in the final to win gold.
The event attracted male squash players from Hong Kong, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and the UK.
The Persian Gulf Championship started in Kish Island on April 17 and wrapped up on April 21, 2017.
