Kish to Become Logistic Aviation Hub
Kish Island, September 7, 2015- Kish Free Zone Organization has inked a cooperation agreement with a Swiss investment company to develop aviation infrastructure in the Persian Gulf Island.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the agreement is aimed at setting up an international cargo center in Kish island.
The deal was signed between KFZO deputy director for Economic and Investment Affairs and a Swiss investment company.
“This cooperation agreement was signed between KFZO and a Swiss company in line with efforts to prepare the ground for developing the infrastructure and is aimed at setting up an international cargo center and also setting up a fuel station at Kish International Airport,” said Dr. Jirofti, KFZO deputy director for Economic and Investment Affairs.
Dr. Jirofti also described the Swiss company as one of the most credible international firms which specializes in cargo management and air transportation in the region.
He said the Swiss company will finance the establishment of a 50,000 square meter cargo center at Kish international airport to provide services to international airliners.
KFZO deputy director for Investment and Economic Affairs also said under the agreement, the Swiss company will also share its technical knowledge and expertise in the field of aviation industry with KFZO and will work on introducing Kish International Airport at international level to encourage more foreign airliners to transport cargo into and from Kish.
“Kish Free Zone has the capacity to offer transit flight services and turn into a logistic aviation hub… But in order to become an aviation hub, it is necessary to develop necessary infrastructures,” he was quoted as saying by KFZO Public Relations and International Affairs Department.
Dr. Jirofti said developing air transportation is key to the promotion of international trade and commerce in the region.
This will boost non-oil exports and create sustainable economic growth in the region, he noted.
