60 Percent of Kish Economic Development Depends on Tourism

Kish Island, November 20, 2021-The Deputy CEO of the Hotel Owners Association considered creating a new tourist attraction to be effective in increasing the length of stay of travelers in Kish.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, in the meeting of Kish Investors and Entrepreneurs' Association with Dr. Lavasani, Hatami, Deputy Managing Director of Kish Hoteliers Association, mentioned that Kish development is based on tourism, production, and export activities and said: In developing Kish, 50 hotels have been built, of which 42 are active, and currently, there are 15,000 beds ready to receive tourists, and 5,000 people are working in the hotels.

He said: "According to Kish development plan, there is the same number of hotels under construction for the future, which will increase Kish hotel bed capacity to 20,000 to 25,000."

Hatami said: "According to statistics, 1.5 and 2 million tourists travel to the island every year. Our goal in building these hotels is to increase the number of days spent in Kish, so the number of trips will reach 3 million people in the coming years."

Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and its impact on the hospitality industry, Hatami stated: "Despite the closure, all the hotels paid all their staff, water, power, and installments, and did not receive any support, which will discourage them."

"I ask the officials to pay more attention to this sector because 60% of Kish's economic activities depend on this area.", he concluded.
