According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the opening ceremony of the 14th RoboCup Iran Championships and the 2nd edition of RoboCup Asia-Pacific, held on December 5 in Kish Island was attended by the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Iran, the Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization, the Chairman of the Iranian national RoboCup Committee, and a group of officials as well as 15 teams from Iran and various countries.
Dr. Mozaffari pointed out the current situation in Kish Island regarding the present infrastructures such as the existence of campus facilities as well as the peace and security, and said: "Kish Island has well-developed infrastructures to take measures in the area of innovation. One of these infrastructures is the construction of a foundation for innovative, knowledge-based companies."
"Kish Island has good facilities for organizing the RoboCup Championships, which can turn this island to a base for these valuable tournaments, and in case of hosting the tournaments every year, these facilities can be upgraded according to international standards.", he added.
The Managing director of Kish Free Zone Organization also said: "We can take great measures with the motto of innovation and creativity by establishing a joint office with universities on Kish Island."
It should be noted that over 2200 participants from 15 countries have participated in RoboCup Asia Pacific (RCAP) 2018 competition including Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Iran which is being held at the Persian Gulf island of Kish.
It is worth mentioning that a Fire Extinguisher Robot, a Pick and Place Robot, and an Underwater Robot are some of the robots made by Iranian students and researchers at the exhibition.
In the previous edition of the international event, Iranian teams managed to win 13 titles.
The event which kicked off on December 5 will be underway until December 10.
