Kish Development Projects Triple in Value under Rouhani
Kish Island, August 8, 2016 - The value of infrastructure and development projects carried out in Kish island during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s term has been tripled in value.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the amount of funds allocated to infrastructure and development projects has been nearly 7,000 billion rials (over 224 million USD).
The value of the projects which was tripled during a 30-month period of time (2013-2015) came as the Iranian government attached serious attention to the development of free trade zones across the country.
Also, the implementation of the ratified projects by Kish Free Zone Organization indicates a 27% rise compared to three years ago.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali Asghar Mounesan, Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization, hailed the rapid acceleration of growth and development in Kish Island, as the result of removing legal obstacles in recent years.
“27 major development projects have been completed and 29 infrastructure projects are underway in Kish island,” he noted.
“Construction of Kish airport terminal, expansion of commercial harbor, boosting production and distribution of water and electricity network, expansion of green space and recreational centers, undertaking sewage treatment projects, boosting infrastructure of residential areas, developing sports and maritime recreation centers, and many other major and minor projects have been either completed or are under in Kish island, a number of which will be completed by the end of the current year,” Dr. Mounesan reiterated.
He also said 10,000 billion rials (over 320 million USD dollars) has been allocated to other development projects which are under study on Kish Island.
