UNICEF, Kish Red Crescent Hold Educational Workshop on Protecting Children
Kish Island, December 8- The United Nations Children's Fund in collaboration with Kish Red Crescent have held an educational workshop on protecting children during crisis situations.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the five-day event kicked off at Kish Convention Center on Saturday.
Dozens of Red Crescent members along with activists involved in protecting children took part in the workshop to get familiar with the latest standards regarding protecting children during crisis situations.
Dr. Ezio Gianni Murzi, UNICEF Representative in Iran, was one of the keynote lecturers of the event.
During his speech, Ezio Gianni Murzi pointed to Iran's special geographical conditions and said given the high possibility of natural disasters including floods and earthquakes in the country, it is necessary to take action to protect vulnerable children during crisis conditions.
Meanwhile, Juana Wedge, one of the UNICEF trainers said it is possible to reduce risks facing children, and increase children's safety ratio via humanitarian aid and rescue measures.
Dozens of members of Iran's Red Crescent Society as well as Iran's health ministry from across the country have attended the educational workshop.
