Kish Island, July 6, 2015- Residents and tourists in the Persian Gulf Island of Kish gathered for a massive Iftar reception, seen as the biggest one ever held in Iran.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the ceremony was held with the aim of promoting unity and sympathy among fasting Muslims and restoring Iftar ritual.
The reception ceremony was held in an outdoor area opposite Kish City Hall.
Congregation prayer led by Kish Friday Prayer Leader Hojatolislam Alidadi, as well as special ceremonies to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, Shia Muslims first Imam, were among the programs held during the reception.
Senior KFZO officials also took part in the religious event.
Organized by Kish Free Zone Organization, the ceremony has already been warmly received by tourists visiting Kish Island.
Last year, more than 3,000 Iranian and foreign tourists participated in Iftar ceremony.
