Kish Island, June 28, 2015-The Philippine ambassador to Iran says his country plans to set up an office in the Persian Gulf Island of Kish as part of efforts to expand cultural activities in the country.
"Given increasing number of Philippine tourists travelling to Kish to extend their visas in Arab countries, setting up an office to expand the cultural activities by Philippine embassy and handling affairs related to Philippine nationals, is of great significance," Eduardo Martin Menez said.
According to Kish Free Zone Organization's Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Eduardo Martin Menez made the comments in a meeting with senior KFZO advisor Rasoul Keshtpour.
"The initial administrative stages of establishing this office has already been carried out and the office will soon become operational with collaboration of Kish Free Zone Organization," said the Philippine ambassador.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Martin Menez reiterated that Philippine nationals can cooperate with KFZO in diverse cultural and educational fields including teaching English language as well as promoting hoteling services in Kish.
Many Philippine nationals are interested in sharing their experience with Kish residents and the tourists visiting the Persian Gulf Island, which will in turn contribute to the expansion of cultural ties between Iran and the Philippines, said Eduardo Martin Menez.
Trade and industrial cooperation between Philippine companies and Kish Free Zone Organization were among other major issues discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, Rasoul Keshtpour announced that the issues of establishing an administrative office for the Philippine embassy in Kish will be discussed in a separate meeting between KFZO Managing Director Dr. Ali Asghar Mounesan and Philippine officials in Tehran soon.
The KFZO official also pointed to the tourism and investment potentials available in Kish Island and expressed the hope that more Philippine tourists visit the Persian Gulf Island to get familiar with "investment opportunities in Kish Island and embark on business activities."
