1st Junior World Kabaddi Championship Kicks off in Kish

Kish Island, November 14, 2019- The inaugural 1st Junior World Kabaddi Championship (Boys) has kicked off in Kish Island Dr. Mozaffari the CEO of Kish Free zone Organization, Dr. Bank the President's Advisor in attendance.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, The competitions kicked off on Monday, November 11 with the participation 12 teams from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Denmark, Kenya, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Azerbaijan as well as Iran.

Backed by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), the tournament will feature Under-20 players from 13 participating nations in a bid to increase the interest in youngsters in these countries to take up the sport and represent their country in the future Kabaddi tournaments.

The 1st Junior World Kabaddi Championships will be wrapped up on November 16.

Kabaddi is a contact team sport, played between two teams of seven players each. The objective of the game is for a single player on offense, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of a court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath.
