According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the Silk Road Startup Conference will be held at Kish International Conference Center on April 18 and 19. Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and attract foreign investment.
The event will be a mix of speeches by key international figures in the startup business, a competition, panels, and workshops. Among the key speakers are Marvin Liao, Silicon Valley ex-employee, and a partner in 500 Startups, Maral Kalajian, head of marketing and communications at Watty, Reza Malekzadeh, General Partner at Partech Ventures, based in the San Francisco office, Jurgen Furian, co-founder of pioneers.io headquartered in Austria, Kiyan Zandiyeh, a partner at Sturgeon Capital from England, Kei Shimada, Director of Innovation at IBM Innovation and Incubation Labs, and Nicolas Andrieu, Director Middle East and Central Asia at Sigfox in France.
The summit is a mix of pitch competitions, keynotes, panels and workshops in 2 days. Internet of Things, FinTech, Artificial intelligence, Blockchain, Investment in Iran's technology sector, entrepreneurs' challenges posed by sanctions and barriers in Iran, and the government's contribution to improving the business environment are among the issues to be raised at this submit.
Preparations for the event began when invitations were announced in September and 400 startups applied, then the top 84 startups who pitched during a road trip in 7 cities of the country were shortlisted, after these series of pitch competitions, 16 finalists were accepted to participate at the finals in Kish.
