Kish International Airport, Among the Busiest in the Country
Kish Island, January 17, 2017- The number of domestic flights carried out at Kish International Airport has witnessed a 19% year-on-year rise. Also, the number of domestic passengers flying from and into the airport suggests a 31% rise, and the cargo volumes increased by 30% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, Kish International Airport has been among the busiest in the country, after Mehrabad Airport, Mashhad Airport, Imam Khomeini Airport in the ninth month of the Persian calendar year (November-December).
Totally, 2078 flights (1969 domestic and 109 international flights) were carried out at Kish Airport during a one-month time span showing a 19% year-on-year rise.
In the same period, over 113000 domestic passengers were transported to and from the Persian Gulf island of Kish through Kish airport, showing a 31% increase.
Cargo volumes have risen as well, with the airport handling more than 3m kg of freight in the same period showing a 30% growth.
