Wave Buoy Launched Off Kish
Kish Island, February 4, 2016 -A wave tracking buoy has been launched off Kish island as part of efforts to promote safe transit to the Persian Gulf island.
According to the Public Relations Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the domestically-built buoy was launched in the Persian Gulf waters off Kish island during a special ceremony attended by a number of KFZO officials including Dr. Ali Asghar Mounesan, managing director of Kish Free Zone Organization.
The 700 kilogram buoy has been designed and built by Iranian experts.
The buoy streams data on wave height, direction, period, and water temperature. Such information can be used for different purposes including weather forecasting as well as maritime navigation.
The data can contribute to the promotion of a safe transit to Kish island.
