Free Zones Key to Expanding Tourism Industry

Kish Island, September 13, 2015-The spokesman of Iran's Parliament's Cultural Heritage Committee says the country's free zones, including Kisk, Qeshm, Anzali, Chabahar and Arasbaran, can play an incomparable role in promoting tourism industry.

"Given their unique potentials, free zones can be turned into tourism hubs in the country," said Iraj Nadimi.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the Iranian MP also called for taking necessary action for preparing the ground for the presence of foreign tourists in Iran.

"Unless the necessary infrastructure is developed, foreign tourists won't come to Iran," Nadimi noted.

Nadimi described recreational facilities including hotels and amusement parks as a must for promoting tourism industry.

He said many tourists travel to specific destinations to use certain recreational facilities.

He pointed to activities carried out in other Muslim countries such as Malaysia and UAE and said a new management approach is needed in Iran during the post-sanctions era.

The Iranian lawmaker described the increasing number of foreign tourists visiting free zones as yet another sign that the infrastructure of tourism industry needs to be developed.
