Kish International Airport Open to Private Sector Investment

Kish International Airport is open to investments by the private sector to fund aircraft repairs and helicopter flight simulators.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, “We welcome investments by the private sector in the field of aircraft maintenance, overhaul and helicopter flight simulator in Kish,” said Ezzatollah Mohammadi, the CEO of Kish Ports and Airports Development and Management Company.
Mohammadi made the comments during the opening ceremony of Iran’s largest and most equipped airport helicopter hangar in Kish on Thursday.
“Kish hosts the suitable infrastructure and space needed for aircraft maintenance and overhaul. Also in addition to Kish Airport, there are infrastructures available in Kish University Town which are ideal for flight simulator investment” Mohammadi added.
The CEO of Kish Ports and Airports Development and Management Company also pointed to more than 3000 billion toman (Over $710 million) investment by the KFZO in airport and aviation sector development and said this also requires the participation of the private sector in further development of Kish International Airport.
Mohammadi also described the 3-hectare airport heliport complex as the largest in Iran capable of providing special services to oil platforms.
It should be noted that Iran’s largest and most equipped helicopter hangar will be built in a 6,650 square meter area on Kish Island with 2,375 square meters of hangar infrastructure. The hangar can accommodate 5 helicopters and also provides 3 separate dedicated parking spaces in the apron. The project has already attracted 1,300 billion rials (Over $3 million) and is expected to be completed in a period of 16 months by Pasargad Faraz Kish Company.
The total area of the technical workshops and administrative and operational offices of the hangar is 2,650 square meters, with the dedicated flight apron covering a 4,275 square meter area.
