Director of Kish hospital: Promotion of Health Tourism Tops KFZO Agenda

Kish Island, December 14, 2014- Director of Kish super specialty hospital says the promotion of health and medical tourism is high on the agenda of Kish Free Zone Organization.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, Dr. Khalkhali made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the Training Congress and Workshop of brain endoscopy which was held on Kish Island on Friday.

Scores of Iranian neurosurgeons took part in the scientific event.

During the ceremony, Dr. Khalkhali hailed the activities and projects carried out by KFZO in the area of medical tourism and said the issue topped the agenda of the organization shortly after Mr. Mounesan was appointed as the head of Kish Free Zone Organization.

Interaction with Iranian and international medical experts, equipping Kish hospital with state-of-the-art facilities, ICU and CCU units, as well as setting up a modern laboratory at the hospital, were among the significant activities carried out by KFZO to promote healthcare services on Kish Island in recent years.

Dr. Khalkhali said KFZO seeks to turn Kish Island into a health tourism center in the region.

Low medical costs, favorable weather, modern recreational and tourism facilities, high level of security, as well organized traffic, have made the Island an ideal place for health tourism, said Dr. Khalkhali.

Dr. Khalkhali reiterated that Kish hospital intends to develop International clinic for liver diseases, laparoscopy, heart surgery center, skin and hair treatment center, as well as brain and eye clinics.

Workshop on Brain endoscopy surgery (ETV) was held at Kish Hospital on Friday and Saturday. The Head of Iranian Neurosurgeons Society, Professor Hamid Rahmat, and Dr. Omidvar Rezaee head of the workshop, along with 70 Iranian neurosurgeons took part in the two-day event.

Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV) is an alternative to shunt placement for treatment of hydrocephalus.

The technique opens a hole inside the brain to re-establish effective flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
