Robotic Cancer Surgery Conducted at Kish Cancer Centre

Kish Island, June 20, 2018-Kish Cancer Treatment Center is equipped with robotic surgical facilities for the first time in Iran.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, following Dr. Ansari Lari's emphasis on establishing a top-notch cancer treatment center in Kish Island, Kish Cancer Center (KCC) was launched on May 11, by successfully performing an advanced prostate cancer surgery.

This technologically-advanced cancer center is using the world's advanced equipment, including robots, for cancer surgery.

According to Dr. Afrasiabi, Urologist and Head of Kish Cancer Center (KCC), the robotic prostate cancer surgery system is able to provide superior clinical prostate cancer treatment results when compared to non-robotic traditional and scope-assisted procedures. This greater precision reduces the likelihood of relapse due to missed cancerous tissue. The precision of the system also allows the surgeon to avoid damaging healthy prostate tissue, which improves clinical results, reduces scar tissue build up, and contributes to an overall shorter recovery period after robotic prostate surgery.

"As for the development of Kish Cancer Treatment Center activities, it has been discussed with representatives from Azerbaijan, Oman, Bahrain, and Turkey that the patients from Iran and the countries in the region will be treated on the island of Kish instead of traveling to European countries" Dr. Mohammad Amin Afrasiabi reiterated.
