Shenzhen, Kish Mull Sister City Deal

 

Kish Island, September 26, 2016- Kish Free Zone Organization’s deputy head for economic affairs says the Persian Gulf island of Kish and Chinese port city of Shenzhen will become sister cities in the near future.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, a Chinese delegation including municipal officials from the Chinese port city of Shenzhen met with KFZO officials to get familiar with investment opportunities in the Persian Gulf island.

Signing a sister city agreement between Kish and Shenzhen was among the issues discussed in the meeting.

During the meeting, Ali Jirofti, KFZO’s deputy head for economic affairs, briefed the Chinese delegation on business and investment opportunities in Kish island.

He described business and tourism as the major activities in Kish island and said the Persian Gulf island stands for nearly 1 percent of Iran’s GDP.

Jirofti also pointed to the growing number of industrial companies which are active in Kish island and said over 400 high-tech knowledge-based companies operate in Kish.

The KFZO official also referred to Kish infrastructure development in recent years and said Shenzhen investors’ experience in developing Kish commercial harbor.

Jirofti reiterated that Kish Free Zone Organization is determined to develop necessary infrastructure in diverse fields including energy and transportation.

He also pointed to the significant rise in foreign investment in Kish and said the ground has already been prepared for setting up an ideal environment for foreign investors.

“With the implementation of widespread development and infrastructure projects, Kish is fully ready to receive foreign investors,” the KFZO official reiterated.
