Kish to Host Iran’s Biggest Intl. Medical Congress in past 50 years

Kish Island, November 29, 2014-The 12th edition of Asian Congress of Urology will be held on Kish Island in December 2014 with more than 2,000 Iranian and foreign physicians in attendance.

"Over 2,000 Iranian and foreign physicians will take part in the international congress," Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization quoted Dr. Jalil Hosseini, the Chairman of the 12th Asian Congress of Urology as saying.

"The presence of over 2,000 physicians and medical experts from 26 countries in this international congress prepares the ground for introducing Kish Island and promotion of scientific tourism in Iran," said Dr. Hosseini.

The previous editions of the congress have been held in Japan, Taiwan and India, Dr. Hosseini said this is the first time that a Middle Eastern country hosts the major medical event

He also said over 300 articles have already been sent to the secretariat of the congress.

Joint comprehensive scientific programs have also been planned with collaboration with major medical institutions including European Association of Urology, European Association of Urology, American Association of Urology as well as the International urology Association, said the Chairman of the 12th Asian Congress of Urology

He also underscored that holding the congress in Iran paves the way for establishing scientific relations between Iranian universities and other academic centers around the globe as it conveys the message of peace from Iranian nation and displays the scientific capabilities of Iranian scientists.

Dr. Hosseini said holding the international conference also prepares the ground for organizing similar scientific events on the Persian Gulf Island of Kish given its proper facilities and potentials.

He also expressed the hope that Iran holds more international medical conferences in the future given the country's great scientific history.

Medical experts from 26 countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, US, Britain, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Turkey, Austria, South Korea, Qatar and UAE will take part in the congress to be held December 5-9 on Kish Island.

The congress is seen as the biggest international medical event held in Iran during the past 50 years.

Expansion of medical tourism on Kish Island has been one of the important activities topping the agenda of Kish Free Zone Organization in recent months.

Kish Island is seen as a haven for tourists as foreign nationals wishing to enter Kish Free Zone from legal ports are not required to obtain visas prior to travel. Valid travel permits are stamped for 14 days by airport and Kish port police officials.

Kish Hospital has drawn up major development plans to promote medical services on the Island. The hospital has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment that enables specialists and super-specialists to performing laparoscopic, urological, and liver resection surgeries.
