Kish to Host Asian Billiard & Snooker Championship

Kish Island, May 9, 2015-The 4th round of Asian Billiard and Snooker championship will be held in the Persian Gulf Island of Kish.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, director of Iran's Billiard and Snooker Confederation said the best Asian Billiard players will take part in the contest to be held in Kish later this month.

"Top billiard players from 20 Asian countries including Thailand, China, India, Pakistan, Qatar, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, South Korea and Iran will compete in the event," said Hashem Eskandari.

He said Iraq and Saudi Arabia are yet to announce their readiness to take part in the competition.

Eskandari said two teams from Iran will take part in the event.

"18 Iranian and 8 International referees will preside over the games, "he added.

Eskandari also pointed to the sharp global rise in popularity of billiard and snooker and said Asian authorities have already launched a bid to win a spot on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics sports program.
