Kish Island, July 18, 2016- Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi has hailed the infrastructure development in Kish island.

"Good progress has been made in terms of the expansion of infrastructure in maritime and aviation sectors in Kish island," Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization quoted Akhoundi as saying.

"I last visited Kish island after three years and now I can witness good (development) progress in the island," Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development reiterated.

Akhoundi is in Kish to participate in the 19 edition of the Assembly of the Organization of Iranian Construction Engineers which was held in the Persian Gulf island.

He also hailed the construction of new hotels in Kish as a good way to boost tourism industry.

"If we want to see the Iranian islands benefit the national economy, we should focus on attracting both Iranian and foreign tourists," he added.

Akhoundi visited several infrastructure projects in Kish including airport terminals which are under construction as well as Toranj maritime hotel.
