Iran U-23 Beats Syria in Friendly Match

Kish Island, December 19, 2018- Iran national under-23 football team has defeated its Syrian counterpart 2-0 in their first friendly match.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, Iran national under-23 football team defeated its Syrian counterpart 2-0 in the first friendly match held in Kish Island on Tuesday, December 18 in preparation for Asia Cup finals. Dr. Gholam Hossein Mozaffari the CEO of Kish Free Zone Organization, Hossein Kalani, a Member of Football Federation's Technical Committee, some members of the City Council, and a number of Kish Sports and Recreation Institute officials attended the match at Kish Olympic Stadium.

Mohammad Reza Azadi and Mehdi Ghaedi scored the two goals.

Iran U23 (Team Omid), which is coached by the Croat coach Zlatko Kranjcar, is preparing for 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championship qualification which also serves as the first stage of the AFC qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
