ECO Permanent Representatives Council Held Meeting in Kish Island

Kish Island, February 19, 2018-The 227th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Permanent Representatives Council has been held in Kish Island.

According to the Public Relations and International Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the 227th meeting of the ECO Permanent Representatives Council was held at Kish International Conference Center on Wednesday, February 14.

At this meeting, Kish Free Zone Organization's Deputy Director for Economic Affairs pointed to the annual arrival of 2 million domestic and foreign tourists in Kish Island and said "the management of Kish Free Zone Organization is aiming at attracting more visitors to this coral reef island. Kish Island and ECO can have strong cooperation in sharing the infrastructures and strengthening and developing them, and exchanging the information in social and economic spheres."

Saeedi described Kish as one of the three most beautiful coral islands in the world and said: "Kish Island, as a tourist center, can play an important role in the pursuit of ECO-goals. Doing the necessary study and based on the conditions of their countries, Eco Member States can select Kish as the center for providing financial and international services." KFZO official added.

The Economic Cooperation Organization or ECO is a Eurasian political and economic intergovernmental organization which was founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities.

The 23rd Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers is scheduled to be held in  Dushanbe, the Capital of Tajikistan, on 16-17 April 2018.
