$ 2.5 Billion Foreign Investment in Iran FTZs Indicates Success in Attracting Investment

Kish Island, August 29, 2019- The president's Advisor says investor support and investment facilitation in Iran Free and Special Economic Zones are the priorities of the Supreme Council of Free Zones.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Kish Free Zone Organization, the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran's Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones cited the volume of in investment and of 180 trillion in the country's free and special economic zones as a sign of the successful policies of these regions in attracting investment. The capital attraction in Iran free zones  was 50 trillion tomans and in the special economic zones 130 trillion tomans.

According to Morteza Bank, $2.5 billion foreign investment and 180 trillion rials domestic investment in the country’s free zones over the past six years is a sign of the successful policies of these regions in attracting investment.

He also underlined the number of jobs created in the country’s free and special economic zones, saying that over 500 thousand jobs were created in the mentioned zones in the same period.

In the Iranian calendar year 1396, the amount of investment in free zones of the country was 4,700 billion tomans, and despite economic conditions caused by US sanctions, this amount increased to about 7 trillion tomans in 1397.

He added that the volume of investment in special economic zones of the country was $30 trillion last year.

Mentioning the exports from the country’s free and special economic zones, Bank noted that in the mentioned year, the total exports from free zones and special economic zones stood at more than $18 billion.

The President's Advisor announced the activities of 370 knowledge-based companies in the Free and Special Economic Zones of the country. And said: The new approach of the Free Zones is based on supportive policies, safeguarding investment and creating a broader scope of knowledge-based companies.

The Secretariat of High Council of Free Zones referred to the cooperation of the Vice Presidency of Technology with the Free Zone Organization of Kish on the development of knowledge-based companies in Kish Island and added: Kish Innovation Tower, which opened today and this week, strengthens the active and productive presence of startups and knowledge-based companies on the Kish Island and will provide a very bright future for the country's free trade-industrial zone.
